Essential Oils for Pregnancy
Pure essential oils are an invaluable way of enhancing your massage of the mother-to-be. The following recipe makes an ideal general purpose oil for massage during pregnancy.
- 3 drops of mandarin
- 3 drops of lavender
- 2 drops of neroli
- Diluted in 20 ml of carrier oil
You can blend oils to relieve some of the discomforts and problems often experienced in pregnancy, following the recipes listed below.
Backache
Follow the back massage routine.
- 2 drops of Roman chamomile
- 2 drops of geranium
- Diluted in 10 ml of carrier oil
Constipation
Follow the sequence for abdominal massage.
- 2 drops of lavender
- 2 drops of Roman chamomile
- Diluted in 10 ml of carrier oil
- Cramp
Follow the routine for leg massage.
- 1 drop of cypress
- 1 drop of geranium
- 2 drops of lavender
- Diluted in 10 ml of carrier oil
Fluid retention
Follow the routine for leg massage.
- 2 drops of cypress
- 2 drops of geranium
- Diluted in 10 ml of carrier oil
Heartburn
Follow the abdominal massage sequence.
- 1 drop of bergamot
- 1 drop of mandarin
- 2 drops of sandalwood
- Diluted in 10 ml of carrier oil
Depression/mood swings
Follow the sequence for facial massage.
- 1 drop of neroli
- 1 drop of rose, 2 drops of geranium
- Diluted in 10 ml of carrier oil
Fatigue
Perform a full massage.
- 1 drop of geranium
- 2 drops of lemon
- 1 drop of mandarin
- Diluted in 10 ml of carrier oil
Anti-stretch marks
Follow the routine for abdominal massage.
- 2 drops of frankincense
- 2 drops of lavender
- 2 drops of mandarin
- 1 drop of neroli
- Diluted in 20 ml of carrier oil
Varicose veins
Follow the leg massage sequence (gentle movements only).
- 1 drop of cypress
- 1 drop of lemon
- 1 drop of geranium
- Diluted in 10 ml of carrier oil
